Brian Sessions, 47, of Jersey City was captured on surveillance cameras wearing a backpack he stole in one of three burglaries committed last June – two off Hilltop Road and the other off Ridge Road, Police Chief James N. Batelli said Friday.

He also stole two guns and jewelry valued around $15,000, the chief said.

Mahwah detectives connected with their Morris County colleagues, who’d arrested Session for similar burglaries – one in which they said he pulled a stun gun on a woman after breaking into her home, then bound her wrists and ankles, covered her mouth and sexually assaulted her.

Sessions – who remained held in the Morris County Jail after his arrest there -- admitting tying up the woman but denied sexually assaulting her, Batelli said.

Mahah police charged him with a variety of offenses, including burglary while in possession of a firearm and several counts of theft.

The jewelry and weapons stolen in the Mahwah burglaries haven’t been recovered, Batelli said.
